The Hunt Is On - Force Link 3 3/4" Figures

(New items from the Force Link line will be added to this list as they are announced.)

Despite 'Force Friday II' still being over a month away, the first leaked images of toys from The Last Jedi are already hitting the internet. All of these items are supposed to be strictly embargoed until September 1st, but it seems a lot of stores haven't got that memo. Disney's loss is our gain, however - as these leaks give us collectors a good chance to compile and refine our wishlists in advance of the big day. That being said, the list below is based on blatant leaks. So if you're wanting to be surprised on Force Friday, read no further!

As always, my focus will be on the Micro Machines and 3 3/4" lines. So far, the leaks (which I won't be linking to on this site) have only shown what will be on offer for the latter line. Insofar as The Last Jedi products go, it looks like we'll be seeing a large playset, four new vehicles, eleven single-carded figures, and a single two-pack on Force Friday II. Budget and space constraints have had me shying away from 3 3/4" playsets and vehicles in recent years, so my main interest will instead be in those figures.

It's perhaps easiest to start with what I'm not interested in. For now, I'll be passing on C-3PO, General Hux, the First Order Stormtrooper, and Poe Dameron (Resistance Pilot) as these are all repeats (either straight repacks, or minor variants) of figures that I already have in my collection. Rey is a must-have - but since she turns up in the 2-pack, there's no point picking up the single-carded version. The one figure I've been very much on the fence about is Chewbacca. He's a ghastly sculpt, and I already have much better versions of this character, but I'm conflicted by the fact that he comes with what might be the greatest accessory in Star Wars action figure history - an adorable 3 3/4" scale porg! Fortunately, my fellow collectors have pointed out that this will by no means be the last porg we see at this scale, so I'll do my best to show some restraint and avoid picking up Chewie just for this pack-in.

Of course, it's not just characters from The Last Jedi that'll be hitting shelves on Force Friday II. There will also be a duo of non-TLJ deluxe figures. One of those sets - coming with a gorgeous super-articulated probe-droid - is a must-have. The other is an easy pass, however. As much as I'd like a Bala-Tik figure to go with my Guavian Enforcer, the rathtar that accompanies him does nothing for me.

Insofar as Wave 2 is concerned, there are three single-carded figures and a 2-pack that I'll be after: DJ (Canto Bight), General Leia Organa, Luke Skywalker (Jedi Exile), and Rose (First Order Disguise) with BB-8 and BB-9E. The remainder of this wave are, once again, repacks or minor variants on characters already in my collection. I'll also be on the lookout for the Battle of Crait 4-pack whenever that begins to turn up in stores..

So, all said and done, I'll be hunting for the following from Force Friday II onwards:

The Last Jedi Behind-the-Scenes Featurette

In keeping with tradition, Lucasfilm has released an exclusive behinds-the-scenes look at the next chapter in the Star Wars saga - Episode VIII: the Last Jedi. The video was released today at Disney's D23 expo, and is now available for viewing on YouTube. Check it out below!

I was a little underwhelmed by the teaser trailer that was released back in April, but this featurette has more than made up for that. It's chock-full of tantalising glimpses into the film, including our first look at some fascinating new entries from the creature-effects department.
