The Black Series 3 3/4" #03 Anakin Skywalker, #05 Luke Skywalker, and #07 Biker Scout

Hasbro's new 3 3/4" Black Series features a number of repacks and re-releases. That being said, there are still a few figures coming out in this line that I happened to miss in their earlier incarnations. Among those are #03 Anakin Skywalker, #05 Luke Skywalker, and #07 Biker Scout.

I picked up all three today during my Toys'R'Us visit for $9.99US ($12.89NZ) each. The cost of these figures in the US is still incredibly reasonable - particularly given that these same figures can retail for as much as $22.99NZ back in New Zealand.

Houston Toy Store Tour - August 2013

Today I took a tour of my local toy stores here in Houston - my first since getting back to the US last week. Target had little on offer, so my main focus was on Toys'R'Us. I'd hoped to catch the early arrival of the Imperial Scanning Crew set or the Lego mini-planets I'm currently on the hunt for, but sadly they're yet to hit stores. Despite this, it was still good to see plenty of new stock on the shelves - most notably, the first waves of Hasbro's Black Series figures.

I've long since decided against collecting the new 6" figures, but it was still great to finally see them in person. They're awesome figures with some great detail and articulation, and will definitely suit new collectors (or old collectors looking to begin a new line). I am and always have been a 3 3/4" man myself, so picked up a handful of those figures for the collection.

Action Fleet Mini Scenes #6 - Throne Room Reception

It's been a while since any new additions have been made to the collection, but this afternoon a package arrived from Amazon containing a purchase I made earlier this week: the Action Fleet Mini Scenes #6 - Throne Room Reception.

It's not the most action-packed of Action Fleet scenes - containing miniature figures of Sio Bibble and Nute Gunray and boasting the one and only action feature of a "'walking' throne". Despite this, it's an item I've been wanting to add to my collection for some time. These Mini Sets were designed to connect up in order to form a larger display, and while some individual sets may fail to excite, they look really nice when assembled together. Unfortunately, it's hard to come by this particular set back in New Zealand, so being back in the States gave me the perfect opportunity to grab it off Amazon for an excellent price ($9.50US / $12.14NZ).

More significantly, the addition of this item to my collection now means I've managed to get hold of every Action Fleet vehicle and set that was released in New Zealand. This series remains my favourite Star Wars line of merchandise, so it's great to have finally got hold of all of the pieces!

Disney Confirms Episode VII Release Date of Summer 2015

Alan Horn - chairman of Walt Disney Studios - has confirmed via Twitter that Star Wars: Episode VII will be released in Summer 2015. We'd been going on this assumption for some time now (particularly since all previous Star Wars films have been released in the summer) but it's great to have it officially confirmed.

This news means that we're now well-under two years away from the next installment in the Star Wars saga!
